Abstract

Marine ecology is a wide subject comprising elements of physics, chemistry, botany, zoology and more recently, biochemistry, genetics, computer science and remote sensing. The subject developed in the early 20th century from the general field of ecology and focuses on the sea and coastal waters.

Dr Arthur Dye presented a talk on this fascinating topic, illustrating some of the things that marine ecologists do and how their work relates to solving environmental problems.
